How to Use the Internal Inbox for Team Chat in REsimpli

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

The Internal tab in your Inbox is where you talk to your own team, separately from your sellers, buyers, agents, and vendors.

You can send a direct message to one person or create a group chat, reply in threads to keep conversations organised, share files, and pin or flag the conversations that matter.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Internal tab

  1. Hover over the left side panel and click Inbox.

  2. Click Internal.

You will see all the conversations you have with your team members.

Step 2: Start a new conversation

  1. Click the new conversation button.

  2. Click Add New.

Step 3: Choose who to include

  • Select a single team member for a direct message, or

  • Select several team members to create a group chat

Step 4: Click Add Users

Click Add Users.

Your new conversation appears, and you will see the number of people included in the chat.

Step 5: Add more people later

From inside the conversation you can add more people at any time.

Step 6: Reply in a thread

If there is an ongoing conversation and you want to respond to one specific message:

  1. Hover over the message you want to reply to.

  2. Click the thread button.

  3. Type your reply.

Your reply is added under that message as a thread, rather than posting as a separate message further down the conversation.

This keeps a busy conversation organised, and lets you see the replies to a message together in one place.

Step 7: Use the other message options

While writing a message you can also:

  • Add emojis

  • Add a link or attachments

  • Translate the message to Spanish

Step 8: Pin, flag, and find shared files

On a conversation you can:

  • Pin it to keep it easy to find

  • Flag it to mark it for follow-up

  • View the files that have been shared on the thread

Important Notes

  • Internal is separate from External. Team chat never mixes with your seller and buyer conversations.

  • Thread replies keep long conversations readable. Without them, a reply to an older message lands at the bottom of the conversation with no visible connection to what it answers.

  • The file list on a thread is the quickest way to find something a colleague sent you, rather than scrolling back through the conversation.

  • The chat shows how many people are in it. Check this before posting something you only meant for one person.

  • You can add people to a group chat after creating it, so you do not need to get the list right the first time.

  • Translation to Spanish is available on a message, which is useful on a mixed-language team.

  • Pinning and flagging do different jobs. Pin what you refer to often; flag what you need to come back to.

Troubleshooting

You cannot find your team conversations

  • Check you are on the Internal tab. Seller, buyer, agent, and vendor conversations are under External, and prospect conversations are under List Stacking.

Your reply posted as a new message instead of a thread

  • Hover over the message you are replying to and click the thread button first. Typing in the main message box posts a separate message.

A team member is not in the list when creating a chat

  • Check they have been added as a user on the account, under Manage Users and Roles.

You need to add someone to a conversation already running

  • Open the conversation and add them. You do not need to start a new chat.

A conversation has disappeared

  • It may have been archived. Filter by Activity Status and Archived on the Internal tab.

You cannot find a file someone sent

  • Open the conversation and look at the shared files rather than scrolling the message history.

Summary

You used the Internal tab for team chat. You opened your Inbox, clicked Internal, and started a conversation using Add New — choosing one team member for a direct message or several for a group chat, then clicking Add Users. You replied inside threads by hovering over a message, added emojis, links and attachments, translated a message to Spanish, and used pin, flag, and the shared file list to keep the conversation manageable.
