How to Bulk Import Buyers and Vendors in REsimpli

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

Bulk importing lets you add a whole list of buyers or vendors to REsimpli at once, instead of entering them one by one.

The process is the same for both. You upload a CSV file, match your columns, choose who can see the records, and set a status, campaign, and tag.

Steps

Part 1: Import Buyers

Step 1: Open the buyers section

  1. Click Contacts.

  2. Click Buyers.

Step 2: Start the import

  1. Click Add Record.

  2. Click Bulk Import Buyers.

Step 3: Download the sample file

If you are not sure which fields REsimpli accepts, download the sample file. It comes as a CSV and shows you exactly which columns are available.

Set your own file up to match it.

Step 4: Save your file as a CSV

Make sure your finished file is saved in CSV format before you upload it.

Step 5: Upload your file

Drag your file onto the page, or click Browse File to select it.

Step 6: Match your columns

Match the columns in your file to the REsimpli fields, such as first name, last name, city, zip, email, and phone number.

Every record needs either an email address or a phone number. Without one of the two, your list cannot be imported.

Click Continue.

Step 7: Check the preview

You will see how your records will look once imported.

If everything is correct, click Continue.

Step 8: Choose who can see these records

Select the sub-users or team members who should have access to these buyers.

Step 9: Set the status, campaign and tag

  • Buyer status — for example, Active Buyer

  • Marketing campaign — for example, New Buyer Campaign

  • Tag — this is required

For the tag, type your text and press Enter. Using the import date makes it easy to find the batch later.

Step 10: Import

Click Start Import.

Any contacts sharing the same phone number or email address are removed automatically, so you do not end up with duplicates.

Part 2: Import Vendors

The steps are the same as for buyers.

Step 11: Open the vendors section and start

  1. Go to your Vendors section.

  2. Click Add Record.

  3. Click Bulk Import Vendors.

Step 12: Download the sample file

A sample file is available here too. Download it and set your own file up to match.

Step 13: Upload and map

  1. Drag your file in, or click Browse File.

  2. Match your columns, including phone and email.

  3. Click Continue.

Step 14: Check the preview

Review your records, then click Continue.

Step 15: Set access, status, campaign and tag

  • Choose which team members can access these vendors.

  • Set the vendor status — for example, new vendor, contacted, or active.

  • Choose the marketing campaign.

  • Add your tag and press Enter.

Step 16: Import

Click Start Import.

Important Notes

  • Download the sample file before building your list. It shows you every field REsimpli accepts, and saves rework.

  • Your file must be saved as a CSV.

  • Each record needs either an email address or a phone number. This is the requirement for the import to go ahead.

  • A tag is required. Press Enter after typing it, or it may not be created.

  • Duplicates are handled for you. Contacts with a matching phone number or email are removed during import.

  • Access is set during the import, so decide which team members need these records before you start.

  • Tagging with the import date makes it simple to find or filter that batch afterwards.

Troubleshooting

Your file will not import

  • It may not be a CSV, or your records may be missing contact details. Every record needs an email address or a phone number.

You are not sure which columns to include

  • Download the sample file from the import screen. It lists every available field.

You cannot finish the import

  • The tag is required. Type one and press Enter.

Fewer records imported than you expected

  • Duplicates are removed automatically. Contacts sharing a phone number or email with an existing record are eliminated.

Your team cannot see the imported records

  • Access is chosen during the import. Check which sub-users were selected at that step.

You cannot find the batch you imported

  • Filter by the tag you added. This is why tagging with the import date is useful.

Summary

You bulk imported buyers and vendors. You opened Contacts, chose Add Record and the bulk import option, and downloaded the sample file to format your list. You saved it as a CSV, uploaded it, matched your columns, and checked the preview. You then chose who could access the records, set the status, marketing campaign, and a required tag, and clicked Start Import.
