How to Import Properties Using List Stacking in REsimpli

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

List Stacking lets you upload property lists into REsimpli and combine them in one place. This works for lists like tax delinquent, absentee owner, vacant property, and high equity.

You would use this when you buy or build a property list and want it inside REsimpli, instead of keeping it in a spreadsheet.

Steps

Step 1: Get your file ready

Before you start:

  • Save your file as a CSV file. Other file types will not work.

  • Use the REsimpli list stacking import template. This makes sure your columns are set up the right way.

Step 2: Open List Stacking

  1. Click List Stacking in the left menu.

  2. Click Add Record in the upper-right corner.

  3. Click Bulk Import Properties.

Step 3: Choose your file

Select the CSV file you want to import.

Step 4: Match your columns to REsimpli

Now you tell REsimpli what each column in your file means. This is called mapping.

These four fields are required. You must match them:

  • Property Address 1

  • Property City

  • Property State

  • Property Zip

Everything else is optional, but it helps to include what you have. You can also match:

  • Property ID

  • Primary contact

  • Phone numbers

  • Email

  • Lists and tags

  • Custom fields, such as foreclosure filing date or trustee name

You can also choose whether your file holds Residential properties or Land properties.

When you are finished, click Continue.

Step 5: Check your data

You will see a preview of your import. Look it over and make sure everything is correct.

If something is wrong, use the navigation options on the left side to go back to an earlier step and fix it.

When everything looks right, click Continue.

Step 6: Fill in the last details

This is the final step before importing. Here you will:

  1. Choose the owner of the records. This is the person the records are assigned to.

  2. Set the list stacking status.

  3. Choose which list this file should be added to.

  4. Add any tags you want.

  5. Fill in the list source information.

  6. Say whether your records are skip traced or not.

  7. Say whether you are importing addresses that opted out of your marketing.

  8. Say whether any addresses are marked as returned mail.

If you are creating a new list or a new tag, type the name and press Enter on your keyboard.

Step 7: Start the import

Click Start Import.

Step 8: Watch the progress

Open the Import Log tab inside List Stacking. It shows you:

  • How many addresses are valid

  • How many records were imported

  • How many records were updated

  • Whether the import has finished

The status appears right on this page.

Step 9: Find your properties

Once the import is complete, your records will appear in the Property Addresses tab inside List Stacking.

Important Notes

  • Your file must be a CSV file.

  • Use the REsimpli list stacking import template so your columns line up correctly.

  • Property Address 1, Property City, Property State, and Property Zip are required. The import needs all four.

  • All other fields are optional, but the more information you include, the better.

  • Press Enter after typing a new list name or a new tag name. If you do not, it may not be created.

  • You can go back and fix your mapping before you import, using the navigation options on the left.

  • Imports do not finish instantly. Check the Import Log tab to see how yours is going.

Troubleshooting

Your file will not upload

  • Your file may not be a CSV. Save it as a CSV file and try again.

Your columns do not line up correctly

  • Use the REsimpli list stacking import template. It sets up your columns in the format REsimpli expects.

You cannot move past the mapping step

  • You may be missing a required field. Match Property Address 1, Property City, Property State, and Property Zip, then click Continue.

Your new list or tag was not created

  • You may not have pressed Enter. Type the name, then press Enter on your keyboard.

Something is wrong in the preview

  • Use the navigation options on the left side to return to an earlier step and correct it before you import.

You cannot tell whether your import worked

  • Open the Import Log tab in List Stacking. It shows valid addresses, imported records, updated records, and whether the import is complete.

Summary

You imported a property list into List Stacking. You saved your file as a CSV, opened List Stacking and chose Bulk Import Properties, and matched your columns to the REsimpli fields. You checked the preview, filled in the owner, list, tags, and source details, and clicked Start Import. You then watched the progress in the Import Log tab and found your finished records in the Property Addresses tab.
