Overview
A property often has more than one person attached to it — a spouse, a sibling, an heir, or anyone else with a say in the sale.
You can add these people to an existing property lead as sub-contacts alongside the primary contact, and record how each one is related.
Steps
Step 1: Open the property lead
Open the lead for the property address you are working on.
Step 2: Click the add sign
Click the add sign beside the primary contact.
Step 3: Enter their details
Enter the basic details for the person you are adding:
First name
Last name
Cell phone number
Step 4: Set the relationship
Record how this person is related to the primary contact — for example brother.
Step 5: Click Add Contact
Click Add Contact.
The person is now attached to the property lead as a sub-contact.
Important Notes
The primary contact stays the primary contact. Adding a sub-contact does not replace them; it adds another person to the same property.
The relationship field is worth filling in properly. On an inherited or probate property with several heirs, knowing who is the brother, the widow, or the executor is the difference between a productive call and an awkward one.
Add everyone with a say in the sale. A deal held up because a co-owner was never recorded is a common and avoidable problem.
Each sub-contact has their own phone number, so you can reach the right person directly rather than going through the primary contact every time.
Sub-contacts belong to the property lead. They are added on the lead itself, not created separately and linked afterwards.
Troubleshooting
You cannot find the add sign
It sits beside the primary contact on the lead. Open the property lead first — this is done on the lead, not from a contacts list.
You added the wrong person as the primary contact
Add the correct person as a sub-contact, then adjust which is primary on the lead.
You do not know the relationship
Add the contact with what you have. The relationship can be recorded once you find out — an unrecorded co-owner is a bigger problem than an unlabelled one.
You have several people on one property
Add each of them as a sub-contact with their own relationship. There is no need to create separate leads for the same property.
The same person is on more than one property
Add them to each property lead they are connected to.
Summary
You added a seller contact to a lead. You opened the property lead, clicked the add sign beside the primary contact, entered their first name, last name, and cell phone number, recorded how they are related to the primary contact, and clicked Add Contact.
