How to Move a Lead to Dead Leads and Filter by Reason in REsimpli

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

When a seller is not interested, you can move that lead to Dead Leads. It comes out of your active pipeline, so you only see the leads you are actually working on, but the lead profile stays in REsimpli for your records.

Each dead lead is saved with a reason. Later you can filter by that reason to see why leads are falling away, which helps with reporting and planning your marketing.

Steps

Part 1: Move a Lead to Dead Leads

Step 1: Open the property

Open the lead you want to move.

You will see its current lead status.

Step 2: Change the status

  1. Click the current status.

  2. Change it to Dead Leads.

Step 3: Choose a reason

A prompt will appear asking why this lead is dead.

  • Pick one of the reasons listed.

  • If the reason you need is not there, add your own.

The video uses examples like needs too much work and no motivation to sell.

Step 4: Move the lead

Confirm the move.

The property will now sit in your Dead Leads pipeline, and out of your active leads.

Part 2: Filter Dead Leads by Reason

Step 5: Add a filter

Click to add a filter.

Step 6: Filter by the reason

  1. Select the dead lead reason as your filter.

  2. Remove any other filter conditions you do not need.

  3. Choose the reason you want to look at.

Step 7: Save or apply

You have two choices:

  • Save the filter so you can use it again without building it each time.

  • Apply it without saving if you only need it once.

You will then see the leads that were marked dead for that reason.

Part 3: Check the History

Step 8: Look at the activity log

Open the activity log on the lead.

You will see that the lead status was changed, along with the reason that was chosen.

Important Notes

  • Moving a lead to Dead Leads does not delete it. The lead profile stays in REsimpli for your records and reporting.

  • A reason is required when you move a lead to Dead Leads. You cannot skip the prompt.

  • If your reason is not in the list, you can add your own.

  • The reason is recorded in the lead's activity log, so you can always see why a lead was marked dead and when.

  • Filtering by reason is useful for spotting patterns, such as a reason that keeps coming up.

Troubleshooting

The reason you need is not in the list

  • Add your own reason when the prompt appears.

Your lead is no longer in the active pipeline

  • That is expected. Once a lead is marked dead, it moves to the Dead Leads pipeline.

You cannot remember why a lead was marked dead

  • Open the lead's activity log. The status change and the reason are recorded there.

You keep rebuilding the same filter

  • Save it. A saved filter can be applied again with one click.

Summary

You moved a lead to Dead Leads and recorded why. You opened the property, changed its status to Dead Leads, and picked a reason, adding your own if you needed to. You then filtered your dead leads by reason, saved the filter for next time, and checked the activity log to confirm the change was recorded.
