Porting Phone Numbers

What is porting?

  • Moving a phone number you already own from another provider into REsimpli, so you keep the same number. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

Should I cancel my old phone service first?

  • No. Your account with your current provider must stay active until the port is complete. Cancelling early can cause the request to fail. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

What documents do I need?

  • A completed Number Porting Letter (LOA), a completed Number Porting File, your most recent invoice from your current provider, the PIN for each number if required, and your account number if applicable. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

Why does the PIN matter?

  • Without the correct PIN, your port request may be delayed or rejected by your current provider. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

How long does porting take?

  • Anywhere from a few business days up to 4 weeks, depending on how quickly your current provider releases the numbers. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

What happens after my numbers are released?

  • They are configured in your REsimpli account, which usually takes 24 to 48 hours. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

What works once configuration is finished?

  • Inbound and outbound calls, and inbound SMS. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

Why can't I send texts from my ported number?

  • Outbound SMS needs an approved 10DLC registration, and the carriers then need to link your numbers to your campaign. That takes a few extra days after configuration. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide

My port was rejected. Why?

  • Usually because the information submitted does not match your current provider's records exactly, the PIN was missing or incorrect, or the invoice was out of date. 📄 Phone Number Port-In guide
