Overview
This automation runs when a new buyer is added to your buyers pipeline under a particular marketing campaign.
It can text or email the buyer, set their status and owner, tag them, mark them as a VIP, and notify your team — all as they arrive.
Steps
Part 1: Build the Automation
Step 1: Open your buyer automations
Go to Automations.
Click Buyers.
Select New Buyer Contact.
Add an automation.
Step 2: Choose the buyer campaign
Select the Buyer Campaign this automation applies to.
Any buyer added under that campaign will trigger it.
Step 3: Set your timing
Choose day-based or delay-based timing, and set your default time zone.
Step 4: Understand the pre-added steps
Some steps are added to the automation for you — setting the buyer's status and assigning an owner.
These only run for buyers created through an incoming call or SMS. They are skipped when you add a buyer by hand, because you already choose the status and owner yourself on the form.
Hover over a step in REsimpli to see the reason it may be skipped.
For buyers arriving by call or text, choose the status they should land in — such as New Buyer — and who should be assigned to them.
Step 5: Add an SMS step
To text the buyer as they arrive:
Write the message.
Choose which number the message sends from.
Your first message to a buyer must include your 10DLC company name, or the carriers will not deliver it. Later messages do not need it.
Step 6: Add any other steps
You can also:
Send an email
Add a folder
Add a note
Add a tag
Mark or unmark the buyer as a VIP
Move them to a different call flow, so calls from this buyer route to a different team member or flow
Add a webhook
Assign an owner for the buyer contact
Change their status
Notify a team member, an assignee, or the team
Step 7: Save
Click Save.
Part 2: Test It
Step 8: Add a buyer
Add a new buyer and fill in their details — who owns the contact, the status, and the campaign.
The buyer must be tied to the same marketing campaign you selected when building the automation. A buyer on a different campaign will not trigger it.
Click Add Buyer.
Step 9: Confirm it ran
Open the buyer and click the automation button. You will see the automation active.
Click it to see the scheduled actions — the steps the system will take and when each is expected to go out.
Step 10: Check for skipped steps
If you added the buyer manually, the first two steps will not appear in the schedule.
That is expected. Those steps set the status and owner, and you already chose both on the form. Had the buyer arrived through an incoming call or SMS, both steps would be included.
Important Notes
The campaign is the trigger link. A buyer added under a different campaign will not fire the automation.
Some steps only run for buyers created by call or SMS. Status and owner steps are skipped for manual adds, because you set those yourself. This is why a test on a manually added buyer shows fewer steps than expected.
Your first message to a buyer must carry your 10DLC company name. Carriers require it, and the message will not be delivered without it.
Buyers can be marked as VIP from an automation, and unmarked again.
Moving a buyer to a different call flow changes how their inbound calls are routed.
Hovering over a step in the automation explains when it runs and when it is skipped.
Troubleshooting
Your automation did not trigger
Check the buyer's marketing campaign. It has to match the campaign selected on the automation.
Some steps are missing from the schedule
If the buyer was added manually, the status and owner steps are skipped by design. They only run for buyers created through an incoming call or SMS.
Your first SMS to a buyer was not delivered
It probably did not include your 10DLC company name. Carriers require it on the first message to any contact.
Calls from a buyer are reaching the wrong person
Add a move to a different call flow step so their calls route where you want.
You are not sure when a step will run
Open the automation from the buyer record. The scheduled actions list shows each step and its expected time.
Summary
You built an automation for new buyers. You opened Automations, Buyers, and New Buyer Contact, tied it to a buyer campaign, and set your timing. You reviewed the pre-added status and owner steps and when they are skipped, added an SMS carrying your 10DLC company name, and added tags, VIP marking, call flow changes, assignments, and team notifications. You then tested it by adding a buyer on the matching campaign and checked the scheduled actions on their record.
