Overview
This automation runs when a new vendor is added to your account under a particular campaign — an attorney, inspector, contractor, or any other supplier you work with.
It can message them, create tasks, set their status, and notify your team as they arrive.
Steps
Part 1: Build the Automation
Step 1: Open your vendor automations
Go to Automations.
Click Vendors.
Select New Vendor Contact.
Add an automation.
Step 2: Name it and choose the campaign
Enter an automation name.
Select the vendor campaign.
A vendor tied to that campaign will trigger the automation when they are added.
Step 3: Set your timing
Choose your delay preference and default time zone.
Step 4: Understand the first two steps
The first two steps set the vendor's status and assign team members.
They only run when a vendor is created through a call or SMS. They are skipped for vendors created manually or through a web form, because in those cases you already set the status and assignee yourself.
Hover beside Select Status in REsimpli and it will tell you this directly.
Step 5: Add an SMS step
Select one of your templates, or write the message.
Choose the recipient.
Set the fallback communication number.
The fallback is used when the marketing campaign tied to the vendor has no phone number attached. Without it, there is nothing for the message to send from.
Step 6: Add any other steps
You can also:
Create a task for your team
Add a tag
Add a note
Change the vendor's status
Notify team members, choosing the notification channel
Step 7: Save
Click Save.
Part 2: Test It
Step 8: Add a vendor
Click Add a Vendor.
Select the vendor name — for example an attorney, an admin, an inspector, or other utilities.
Select who the vendor is assigned to.
Set the vendor status.
Select the vendor campaign.
The campaign must match the one on your automation, or nothing will trigger.
Add the vendor.
Step 9: Confirm it ran
Click the automation button on the vendor. Your automation will show as enabled.
Click it to see the scheduled actions. If you added the vendor manually, the third and fourth steps are what run — the first two are skipped, as expected.
Important Notes
The campaign is the trigger link. A vendor on a different campaign will not fire the automation.
The first two steps are skipped for manually created vendors and web form submissions. This is by design and explains why a manual test shows fewer steps.
The fallback communication number covers campaigns with no phone number, so the SMS still has somewhere to send from.
Vendors are categorised by type — attorney, admin, inspector, utilities and so on — which is set as you add them.
Hovering over a step in REsimpli explains when it runs and when it is skipped.
Troubleshooting
Your automation did not trigger
Check the vendor's campaign matches the campaign on the automation.
Only some of the steps ran
If the vendor was added manually or by web form, the first two steps are skipped by design. They only run for vendors created through a call or SMS.
Your SMS did not send
The vendor's campaign may have no phone number attached. Set a fallback communication number on the SMS step.
Your team was not notified
Check the notification step and the channel selected.
You are not sure which steps will run
Open the automation from the vendor record. It lists the steps active for that contact.
Summary
You built an automation for new vendors. You opened Automations, Vendors, and New Vendor Contact, tied it to a vendor campaign, and set your timing. You reviewed which steps are skipped for manually added vendors, added an SMS with a fallback communication number, and added tasks, tags, notes, status changes, and team notifications. You then tested it by adding a vendor on the matching campaign and checked which steps ran.
