How to Set Up Other Trigger Automations for Rentals in REsimpli

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

Other Triggers covers changes to a rental property that are not status moves — most usefully, a tag being added.

Tagging a rental rehab, for example, can automatically text your vendor and create the work for your team.

Steps

Part 1: Build the Automation

Step 1: Open your rental triggers

  1. Go to Automations.

  2. Click Rentals.

  3. Select Other Triggers.

  4. Click Add Automation and enter a name.

Step 2: Choose the condition

Select what should trigger the automation.

The video uses a tag being added — specifically a rehab tag on a rental property.

Click Save.

Step 3: Set your timing

Choose your delay preference.

Step 4: Add an SMS step

You can message the seller, buyer, agent, or vendor.

For rehab work, the vendor is usually the right recipient:

  1. Select the vendor.

  2. Choose their contact information.

  3. Choose which number the message sends from.

The vendor needs to exist on your account for you to select them.

Step 5: Add any other steps

You can also:

  • Create a task for your team

  • Add a note

  • Manage tags

  • Add a webhook

  • Change the property's status

  • Assign team members

  • Notify team members

Step 6: Save

Click Save.

Part 2: Test It

Step 7: Check the property first

Open a rental property and check its automations. There should be none running.

Step 8: Meet the condition

Add the tag your automation watches for — rehab in this example.

Step 9: Confirm it ran

Check the property's automations again. Yours will be enabled.

Several automations can run on one property at once. If more than one has conditions that are met, all of them activate.

Click the automation to see its scheduled actions with their execution date and time.

Important Notes

  • A tag is the trigger here, so this works well as a manual switch — someone tags a property and the follow-up work starts by itself.

  • Vendors can receive the SMS, which makes this a practical way to get a contractor contacted the moment a rehab is flagged.

  • The vendor must already exist on your account to be selected as a recipient.

  • If two automations share a condition, both fire. That is expected behaviour, not a fault.

  • A webhook step lets the event reach a system outside REsimpli.

Troubleshooting

Your automation did not trigger

  • Check the tag you added matches the tag on the automation exactly.

You cannot select the vendor you want

  • They need to be added as a vendor on your account first.

Two automations ran on the same property

  • That is expected if both had their conditions met. Several can be active at once.

Your SMS did not send

  • Check the recipient, their contact information, and the sending number on the SMS step.

You want to know when a step will run

  • Open the automation from the property. Each step shows its execution date and time.

Summary

You built an automation on a rental property change. You opened Automations, Rentals, and Other Triggers, and set the condition to a tag such as rehab being added. You added an SMS to your vendor, plus tasks, notes, tags, status changes, assignments, and notifications. You then tested it by adding the tag to a rental property and confirmed the scheduled actions on its record.
