Overview
Other Triggers covers changes to a vendor's own details — the areas they cover, and tags applied to them.
Setting a vendor's target state to somewhere you work, for example, can automatically tag them, message them, and put them in front of the right people on your team.
Steps
Part 1: Build the Automation
Step 1: Open your vendor triggers
Go to Automations.
Click Vendors.
Select Other Triggers.
Add a trigger.
Step 2: Name it and choose the condition
Enter an automation name.
Select the condition:
A specific tag being added
Target city
Target zip
Target county
Target state
The video uses target state, then selects New Jersey as the state that triggers it.
Click Save.
Step 3: Set your timing
Choose day-based or delay-based, then set your default time zone.
Step 4: Add your steps
Decide what should happen when a vendor matches. You can:
Add a tag
Send a message to the vendor
Add a task for your team
Mark the vendor as a VIP
Change their status
Assign team members
Notify team members assigned to that vendor
Step 5: Notify everyone assigned
If your automation assigns team members and then notifies all assigned, the people it has just added are included.
Step 6: Save
Click Save.
Part 2: Test It
Step 7: Check the vendor first
Open a vendor and check their automations. There should be none active.
Step 8: Add the target state
Open the vendor's targeted areas.
Under targeted states, add or select the state your automation watches for — New Jersey in this example.
The targeted state will now show on the vendor.
Step 9: Confirm it ran
Check the vendor's automations again. Yours will be triggered.
Click it to see the steps the system will carry out and when each is due.
Important Notes
Target city, zip, county, and state are the vendor's own coverage areas, so this automation reacts to where a vendor works rather than to something you did.
This is a good way to route vendors by geography — a vendor covering a state you operate in can be tagged, marked VIP, and assigned to the right person automatically.
Assign then notify works in sequence. Notifying everyone assigned includes people the automation has just added.
Vendors can be marked as VIP from an automation.
Target areas are set under the vendor's targeted areas.
Troubleshooting
Your automation did not trigger
Check the condition against the vendor's details. A target state automation only fires for the specific state you selected.
You cannot find where to set the target state
Open the vendor and update their targeted areas, then use targeted states.
A newly assigned team member was not notified
Notify all assigned rather than naming people, so anyone the automation adds is included.
Your message did not reach the vendor
Check the message step and the sending number.
You want to know when steps will run
Open the automation from the vendor record to see each step and its timing.
