Overview
You can filter your leads on the answers to your own custom questions — for example, pulling up only the sellers who said they want to sell immediately.
This is what makes custom questions worth asking: the answers become a way to find the leads that matter.
Steps
Step 1: Open your filters
Click Manage Filter on the right side of your screen.
Click Add Filter.
Step 2: Scroll to the custom questions
Custom questions are at the very bottom of the parameter list.
Scroll down until you see Lead Custom Questions. Everything below that heading is a custom field or question from your own account.
Step 3: Choose the question
Select the custom question you want to filter on — for example, How soon are you looking to sell the property?
Step 4: Choose the answer
Select the answer you are looking for — Immediately, for example.
Step 5: Continue
Click Continue.
Step 6: Save it or use it once
You now have two options:
Save the filter, if you will use it again
Apply without saving, for a one-off check
Important Notes
Custom questions sit at the end of the parameter list, below the Lead Custom Questions heading. If you cannot find yours, keep scrolling.
The questions you see are the ones set up on your own account, so this list reflects whatever you have configured under Customizations.
A filter on motivation is one of the most useful you can build — for example, everyone who said they want to sell immediately.
Saving requires a filter name and description, the same as any other saved filter.
Troubleshooting
You cannot find your custom questions in the filter list
They are at the very bottom, under Lead Custom Questions. Scroll past the standard parameters.
A question you expected is missing
Check it exists under Settings, Customizations, Custom Fields. Only questions set up there appear here.
Your filter returns very few leads
The answer has to have been recorded on the lead. Leads where the question was never answered will not match.
You only need the filter once
Apply it without saving.
Summary
You filtered leads by a custom question. You opened Manage Filter and Add Filter, scrolled to the bottom of the parameters to Lead Custom Questions, chose your question and the answer you wanted, and clicked Continue — then either saved the filter or applied it without saving.
