How to Move a Lead to a Different Status Based on the Call Result in REsimpli

Use an Activity Trigger automation to change a lead's pipeline status automatically based on the outgoing call outcome.

Written by Anthony Estrada

Overview

You can have REsimpli change a lead's pipeline status automatically based on how an outgoing call went.

Pick the call outcome, choose what should happen, and the lead moves on its own as soon as the caller logs that result — no one has to remember to update the pipeline afterwards.

Steps

Step 1: Open the automation builder

Go to Automations, then Leads, then Activity Trigger.

Step 2: Add the automation

Click Add Automation and give it a name, for example Outgoing Call.

Step 3: Choose the trigger

Select Outgoing Call Outcome as the trigger, then choose which outcome should fire it.

Step 4: Set the branch

Choose the branch for that outcome. In the example, the outcome branches to Dead Lead.

You can set up different branches for different outcomes in the same automation, so one automation handles several call results.

Step 5: Choose the action

Select Change Pipeline Status, then pick the status the lead should move to — in the example, Dead Lead.

Step 6: Save

Click Save. The automation is now live.

Checking that it worked

Step 1: Make a test call

Open a lead, make an outgoing call, and log the outcome you configured.

Step 2: Wait a moment

Give it about a minute to run.

Step 3: Check the enrolment

Open the automation and go to Automation Enrollment. You will see the lead listed, with the option it matched and confirmation that it executed.

Step 4: Check the lead

Open the lead and refresh. The status should have changed. The All tab on the lead's activity shows the move alongside everything else that happened.

Important Notes

  • The trigger is the logged call outcome, not the call itself. The automation runs when the outcome matches the one you selected, so your team has to be logging outcomes consistently for this to work.

  • One automation can cover several outcomes. Add a branch per outcome rather than building a separate automation for each one.

  • It is not instant. Allow roughly a minute before checking.

  • Automation Enrollment is where you verify it. It shows which option matched and whether the automation executed — the first place to look if you are not sure it fired.

Troubleshooting

The lead did not move

  • Check the call outcome that was logged actually matches the one selected in the trigger. A different outcome, or no outcome logged at all, will not fire the automation.

You are not sure whether the automation ran

  • Open the automation and check Automation Enrollment. It records the lead, the matching option, and whether it executed.

The status looks unchanged on the lead

  • Refresh the lead. Then check the All tab in the activity log, which records the status change.

You want different outcomes to do different things

  • Add more branches to the same automation rather than creating one automation per outcome.

Summary

Go to Automations → Leads → Activity Trigger, click Add Automation, and name it. Set the trigger to Outgoing Call Outcome, pick the outcome, add a branch for it, and set the action to Change Pipeline Status with the status you want. Save. After a test call, check Automation Enrollment to confirm it executed, and the lead's All tab to see the move recorded.
