Overview
REsimpli 6.0 supports different number types, and the type you choose decides how REsimpli handles new inbound communication on that number.
The choice comes down to one question: is this number mainly for new seller leads, or is it shared across several kinds of contact?
Which type to use
Number type | Use it when |
Lead number | Most new inbound activity on this number should become a seller lead |
All-Purpose number | The same number is shared across sellers, buyers, agents, and vendors |
Steps
Step 1: Decide what the number is for
Work out whether the number is mainly for new seller leads, or whether several contact types will be calling and texting it.
Step 2: Set the number type
Set it as a Lead number or an All-Purpose number accordingly.
Step 3: Review the routing and Inbox settings
Check the call routing and Inbox settings that go with the number.
Step 4: Test internally
Call and text the number yourself before customers start using it, and confirm new contacts arrive the way you expect.
Important Notes
Lead numbers are built for seller-lead workflows. A new inbound contact becomes a seller lead.
All-Purpose numbers are built for broader communication. Because anyone might be calling, REsimpli cannot always tell what a new contact is — someone on your team may need to classify them as a seller, buyer, agent, or vendor.
The number type does not replace campaign tracking. KPI attribution stays tied to the marketing campaign, separately from the number type.
General-purpose numbers from 5.0 became All-Purpose numbers in the migration, with fuller functionality. Lead numbers stayed lead numbers and buyer numbers stayed buyer numbers.
Frequently asked questions
Which type should I use if the number is only for seller inquiries?
A Lead number is generally the better fit.
Which type should I use if several contact types share one line?
An All-Purpose number is designed for exactly that.
Does the number type replace campaign tracking?
No. Campaign attribution is separate from the number type.
Troubleshooting
A new inbound contact was not automatically classified as a seller
Check the number type. On an All-Purpose number this is expected — REsimpli cannot assume a new caller is a seller.
A contact is showing in the Inbox with no type
Confirm whether the number is All-Purpose. If it is, someone needs to classify the contact.
You changed the number type and are not sure it took effect
Run a test call and text after changing the type or the routing settings.
